Specific Ads?

Ever payed attention to those ads on the side of your Facebook screen? Don't they seem suspiciously accurate as to pinpointing your interests? Well, they are.

Ever search for something online, and then see an advertisement for it on your Facebook page the next time you go to look at your profile? Yeah, it's weird, isn't it?

Facebook makes all of its' money off of advertisements. The main goal of any company is to make money, and Facebook is no exception. Facebook puts its' advertisements before its' members. Therefore, you , as a Facebook member, are privy to leaks in security in order to have more accurate and pinpointed ads. The social networking site actually gives out your private information to these advertisement companies and let's them use it.

You might say that this is all in the name of advertisement, but if Facebook is using your private information, that means this that this information is being stored in some sort of database. Imagine if this information was somehow leaked?

Now, I'm going to be honest, the possibility of your private information being leaked from a high class company such as Facebook is slim to none. But if you stop and think about it, the security problems with some social networking sites can be pretty scary.

How do you feel about the security with social networking sites such as Facebook? Do you think there's nothing wrong, or do you think some things could be fixed? Let me know what you think!

Friends or Frenemies?

Don't you just hate when those people you hardly even know add you on Facebook? But wait, go through all of your friends on your friends list right now. Do you know all of those people well enough to call them a 'close friend'? If so, then you are among one of the few people left who can claim that achievement. I definitely do not just stick to adding my close friends on Facebook.
But why do we add people we may not like on these social networking sites, where we wouldn't dare talk to them in the real world? Is it for the bigger number of friends on your list? Is it for comparing yourself to these people? Most of us do add people who are not our close friends, and my question to you is why?

Facebook Pet Peeves

Hello all! Sorry it's been some time since the last post, but life has been a bit hectic.

Anywho, how's the world of social networking treating you? I know we all love the idea of being able to connect with anyone, anywhere, at anytime during the day. It's a great way to stay in touch with old friends or connect with new ones.
But what about all those irksome downfalls of social networking sites. Friend requests from random strangers, annoying status updates, and inappropriate pictures? No, thank you. Do you think that the benefits of social networking sites outweigh the negatives? And what are your biggest pet peeves about using social networking sites?

How much time do you spend on Social Networking Sites?

Hey guys, so here's my first post! To get things started, I just want to know about you! Yeah, YOU! Well, I really want to know about your activities on Social Networking sites, but same difference. Just to get an idea of how much time you guys spend on Facebook, or Twitter, I have a few questions for you.

1. What social networking site do you visit the most?
2. How many days a week do you visit this site?
3. About how much time do you spend per day on this site? (A rough estimate is fine)

Be truthful! I'll even answer them to start this off:

1. Facebook
2. 7 days a week
3. 1 hour a day

Thanks for visiting. I know this post isn't the most though-inducing thing ever, but I'd figure we would start out nice and easy!
